Brick Store and Eventide throw down on Saturday!

One of my favorite pics of Dave, the co-owner of the Brick Store, disclosing his freakdom.
What’s up for the weekend in ATL? This!

Whaddup!

Two dope events are going down on Saturday, June 24th, and I wanted to make sure you were aware. (Well, actually three in case you are a Game of Thrones fanatic and can’t wait for the season finale on Sunday night.) Anyway, one of the best beer bars in the world, the Brick Store Pub, is celebrating 19 fantastic years being simply stellar. The taps start pouring at 11 a.m. I will definitely be in the house while they dedicate this day to five Georgia breweries supplying some serious hard-to-finds.
Speaking of local, Eventide Brewing is celebrating a year of their awesome tasting room being open by doing a launch of their Citrus Grove Hefeweizen here with a complete package of awesome giveaways. See below for details on both gangster events.
Oh yeah, and Venkman’s is about to hook up a lip-smackin’ brunch every Saturday starting in July, so I will be tasting everything to, uh, make sure everything is in order. I am sure it will be a must-go!

This Rolls-Royce VISION Next 100 concept is incredible!

When RR sent this to me, my jaws dropped!

Whoa!
As many of you know, I have a Brewsin' element and a Cruisin’ element for virtually everything I cover; this Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100 concept is the epitome of luxury for the latter. It hit the floors in London earlier today. In their press release, Rolls-Royce says, “It provides a fully authentic look into the potential demands and desires of the wealthy connoisseur of the future.”
Well I am definitely saving up, putting up all my chips in my fantasy football squads since I won three Super Bowls last year, and hoping to drive one of these bad boys somehow. Ha!
On the real, I have covered the “Double R” (as the late, great Tupac would say) on a few press trips like their Wraith here, but this is definitely on the next level. Period.
Okay, enough writing. Shout outs to Giles Taylor, the Director of Design I posted at the very end, and everyone a part of this time warp on wheels.  Oh, and I hope you have taken advantage of Part One and Two of my Annual Last Minute Father's Day Gift Guides. This VISION would've been on it! Now peep it:

With the Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 we were mindful not to dwell on the past. We wanted to be as innovative as possible and at the same time transcend the design history of the marque”.

Giles Taylor, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

It’s the Annual Last-Minute Father’s Day Gift Guide! Part Two

Shinola's awesome bike, The Runwell, is a winner!
Can’t think of awesome gifts for an awesome dad? Here’s the answer!

It's Part Two!

I know you didn't think I was done with my Annual Last-Minute Father's Day Gift Guide, did ya? Along with Part One's selections, here are some more slick gifts Dad will love.
Now gets to shoppin'!

Your Homey,
Ale

Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack
I am definitely a fan of Jack Daniels due to their rich tradition and the support their Gentleman Jack brand shows for the arts including the traveling Art, Beats and + Lyrics exhibit. It helps that this twice “charcoal-mellowed” whiskey is under $30 and delicious, too. Hook Dad up with a bottle.
jackdaniels.com

The Runwell by Shinola
(Pictured at the top)
Plain and simple, bikes are in and Dad will look extra hip riding The Runwell by Shinola. The design and inspiration come from “Porteur” bicycles paperboys in Paris pedaled around town decades ago. With 11 speeds and a solid steel frame complete with a practical luggage rack to carry a six-pack or whatever, Pops will get exercise while turning heads who will be envious of this two-wheeled beauty when he hits the streets.

Robert Glasper’s Everything’s Beautiful album
Jazz Dad’s life up by getting an album featuring the best of the present honoring the best of the past! Grammy-winning jazz/R&B/hip-hop musician Robert Glasper takes selections from of the late, great Miles Davis catalog and reinterprets them on the newly released album, Everything’s Beautiful (Columbia/Legacy). Special guests include Erykah Badu, Bilal, Stevie Wonder, Phonte, Illa J, Hiatus Kaiyote, Laura Mvula, KING, Georgia Ann Muldrow, John Scofield, Ledisi, DJ Spinna and Stevie Wonder.  Here’s  a taste.

BUILT NY Tote
Have Dad be the man at barbecues and bottle shares when he carries his array of craft beers in BUILT NY Neoprene Totes! Made with the same material as wetsuits, they can keep his growlers, bombers and six packs cold for up to four hours! To add, they come in numerous colors and patterns to help step his brew and style game up!

Alkaline88
With all the toxins and stories of harmful water out there, buy some gallons of Alkaline88 and add Dad to the list of celebrities who swear by alkaline water including Elton John, Beyoncé, Bill Gates, Martha Stewart, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Janet Jackson to name a few. Numerous medical experts state the health benefits of balancing the body’s pH levels with alkaline water include an energy boost, improved digestion, better sleep, and supporting immune systems. This refreshing, artesian alkaline water measures in at 8.8 pH, so I’m sold!

Table8 Dining Club Membership
One of the hardest things about traveling nationwide is knowing where to eat a great meal at a respected restaurant and actually have an easier time getting reservations when you find it. This goes for food events and pop-ups too. Well now there’s an app for that which I think Dad will love thanks to Table8!
They Say: Table8 is a mobile app that lets diners discover and book amazing culinary experiences—when and where you want. They team up with hundreds of the most celebrated restaurants in the industry to offer tables at peak, sold-out times, from one month out to day-of reservations and tickets for new and exciting hospitality happenings around the city. Table8 Dining Club members enjoy all-inclusive access to dining recommendations, members-only gold reservations, exclusive invitations to special culinary happenings, advance access and discounts at select chef events, waitlist priority seating and more.

The Riedel Veritas Beer Glass
With all the styles beer has out right now, you better believe the right glassware will make the sipping experience that much more enjoyable. Well those slick “ultra-thin” crystal glasses popularly made for wine coming from the revered Riedel Veritas Series have a new family member—the Riedel Veritas Beer Glass—to perfect those light, seasonal ales and lagers that make summers for Dad that much more refreshing. Riedel promises beer will stay colder longer “because there’s less glass to conduct heat,” and heck, they will add a touch of class to every sipping session. I'll toast to that!
riedelusa.net

2016 Sip Suds & Summer
If Pops is in Atlanta for Father’s Day weekend, hook him and his homey up with tickets to the 2016 Sip Suds & Summer beer tasting event at Alon’s Bakery & Market in Dunwoody on Friday, June 17th from 6-9 p.m.! (Who wants to drink alone?) A variety of local craft suds from Wild Heaven, Three Taverns, Creature Comforts, Terrapin Beer Co., and others will be poured in a souvenir glass on their festive patio. He will even get a “Tasting Passport” to check off all the brews he sipped while bopping to live entertainment, chomping on appetizers, and praying he wins the raffle all for only $25.

Make sure you check out Part One of my Last-Minute submissions also!
Cheers!

The Annual Last-Minute Father's Day Gift Guide! Part One

Shock Dad with these awesome gifts!

Once again it’s on!

Time is ticking away and you need that “Last Minute” buzzer-beater before June 17th hits, right? Well I’m giving you a week and change to consider these great Father’s Day gift ideas below. As always, I hit the streets, surf the Net, get a ton of submissions, and utilize my long list of resources to make sure the dad you hook up won’t silently cuss you out when your back is turned.
As most of you know, there is no mediocrity on this site, and the following gadgets, beer-themed accessories, apps, trips, cars, smell goods, beverages, books, and events confirm it: I only want the best for my readers! In fact, I did so much work that this guide has to be in Two Parts!
So check out what I posted below in Part One including everything from kickass Frye products to slick book bags by Herschel, a spa date at the Mandarin HotelCREED cologne to make Dad smell like royalty, a 2016 Ford Mustang GT…man, anything you pick will be sincerely appreciated. Honestly, this is the best Last-Minute Gift Guide yet!
To all the dads who deserve it, Happy Father’s Day!
Now get your shoppin' on!

Your homey,
Ale

The FRYE Company Gift Card
Getting anything made by FRYE is a win. This boot, bag and shoe authority continues to make America proud and the stylish consistently happy since 1863. Add Dad to that list with a gift card and send him on his way to shopping bliss whether it’s online or at one of their fine stores throughout the U.S. Atlanta's in the Ponce City Market is awesome!

Herschel Supply Co. Backpacks
One look at these moderately priced book bags and you can see why Herschel is blowing up worldwide. Based in Vancouver, Canada, this hot tote supplier has something for everyone from hipsters to corporate executives who want to make a statement rocking these joints over their shoulders. Their color combinations are extra dope. Period.

CREED Cologne
Originating in London, England, the CREED family has created some of the most extraordinary colognes and perfumes worldwide for generations using some of the most exotic ingredients. It's no wonder everyone from celebrities to royalty swear by them. Honestly, I love 'em because they last a long time on your skin, how eccentric their scents are, and the compliments received regularly. My favorites are their Himalaya and Aventus fragrances, but I need to try them all. Trust me, a bottle of anything by CREED will beat other smell goods by a nose every time.

Barnsley Resort Sporting Clay Instruction
Be it stress, a love for sports, or simply wanting to blast something, hook Dad up with clay shooting lessons at one of Georgia's most revered destinations, Barnsley Resort. I have been there numerous times and I strongly recommend hanging at their heavily stocked beer garden and maybe an overnight stay after. Try and say hello to the celebrated Fairy Godmother while you are out there. She is awesome!
They Say: For visitors seeking to ignite a sense of adventure or sharpen skills, the challenging clay shooting course features 15 stations with a diverse layout of shots ranging from an open field to the forest as well as over reclaimed bauxite mine ponds. Partnering with Caesar Guerini, a leading manufacturer of Italian made over and under shotguns, Barnsley Resort offers a world-class shooting school with NSCA (National Sporting Clays Association) certified instructors and is led by Skip Smith, one of only a few Level III certified instructors in the United States, who brings unparalleled experience and technique to his classes. Sporting clay rates are $60 for 100 targets.  Private shooting instruction is $135 per hour and includes gun rental.  The one-day shooting school is $475 and the two-day is $950, with rates including equipment, guns, ammunition, lunch, and eye/ear protection.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental
Who doesn’t love to woosah? I had the chance to get full-body massage at one of Atlanta’s ritziest hotels, the Mandarin Oriental, and almost cried when my 80-minute session concluded. It was that good!
Give Dad that same experience along with a steam bath, whirlpool, private pool, and other gems their state-of-the-art spa provides. To add, there is a 1 hour 20 minute Age Rebel Men’s Facial special where patroons receive a 20 percent discount on any products purchased from the ESPA Men’s Product Line through June 30th. The facial includes a steam, deep cleanse, and enzyme peel, plus a neck and shoulder massage. For reservations, call (404) 995 7526 or email moatl-spa@mohg.com. Believe me, Pops will love you even more!

Homebrew Supply
Does Dad brew or is at least considering to? A kit by Homebrew Supply Company will get him prepared to be the next Sam Calagione in no time! From recipes for a refreshing Summer Nights Grapefruit Pale Ale to a robust, hearty Peanut Butter Cup Stout, watch Pop’s face light up when you take a sip of one of his sudsy masterpieces. They have all the supplies, instructions, and ingredients as well (including a home-distilling kit), so it’s a one-stop shop!
homebrewsupply.com

Andretti Indoor Karting & Games
With the ridiculous traffic in especially Atlanta, Georgia, letting loose a little steam in an Andretti hi-speed kart, plus an array of games, beers, wines, cocktails, sports on the multiple flat screen TVs, and house-made grub will lower Dad’s blood pressure for sure! Providing two locations, take him out for a day or hook him up with a membership featuring monthly coupons!

The Biltmore
I had the pleasure of experiencing the Biltmore’s Land Rover Driving School in Asheville, NC, where you take some of the best automobiles SUVs known to man and test out the various terrains their 8,000 acres of land have to offer. From crossing streams to heavy duty off-roading, it was simply unforgettable. My bucket list includes me going back to enjoy the numerous other activities and dining options this historic estate boasts. Oh yeah, Dad will love the Biltmore, too.  I got carried away!
They Say: Adventure craving families can stay on the go with a multitude of options from biking, rafting, fly fishing, sporting clays, a Land Rover Driving School and traverse 8,000 acres of land. Give dad a break from the grill and plan a perfect meal on the grounds with plenty of scenic spots to picnic in the summer gardens or make a reservation at Deerpark’s Father’s Day Brunch held between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For children of age, take a winery tour with Dad and taste award-winning wines from the estate. The curious-minded are sure to be satisfied with one of the many tours Biltmore offers, a particular favorite the Rooftop tour, will show Dad exquisite views of the mountains and estate. Turn Father’s Day into a weekend at the newly opened Village Inn, centrally located in Antler Hill Village, a quaint area with shopping and dining options galore. With so many activities to share with Dad, guests will not have to worry about spending the day doing the same thing twice.

HTC 10
Picture this: Dad smiling when he gets handed the new Verizon HTC 10 phone that claims being the world's first OIS front and back. With crystal clear photos that would make National Geographic blush thanks to 12 million UltraPixels and faster laser focus, this mobile gem will make his memories that much fonder for years to come.

2016 Ford Mustang GT Convertible California Special
If you are really balling, can imagine that lucky father walking outside and seeing this baby in his driveway? Terrorizing the streets and highways courtesy of a 5.0L, V-8 engine powered by 435 horsepower, Ford did a solid job maintaining the Mustang tradition with some welcomed enhancements. This is especially true in the California package sporting 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, a black rear spoiler, a custom grille and gas cap, black side mirrors, and gangster racing stripes. The results include seemingly countless accolades from the most discerning auto journalists such as myself.

Here’s what’s poppin’ in ATL!

White Oak has an awesome Oyster + Wine Event this Monday. Check it out below!
Whaddup!

I needed a couple of days to recuperate from the ridiculously festive Memorial Day Weekend where I had to show off ATL to my homey visiting from Washington D.C. From Orpheus Brewing's birthday, to the Atlanta Jazz Fest, NBA playoffs, the AAU tournament in Suwanee to see the future of basketball aka Marvin Bagley III ball out (look him up), crazy bar hopping, and Game of Thrones to name a few, I needed these last few days to woosah.
Now in Miami—be sure to check out my Instagram for beer, cars, and other fun posts here—I wanted to make sure the site was updated a lil' something.
Let's start with some upcoming events followed by my Annual Last-Minute Father's Day Gift Guide on I am posting asap. Trust me, it's going to be the best one so far!
Oh ,and a shout out to my lil' bro Rashad Suede celebrating his b-day today and another one to the late, great J Dilla on National Donut Day! If you are a hip-hop head, you will know what I mean.
