The Georgia Theatre: Modern Skirts, Kishi Bashi and Yip Deceiver
December 31, 2012 at 8 p.m.

Join the Georgia Theatre for a special performance by Modern Skirts supported by Kishi Bashi and Yip Deceiver this New Year’s Eve beginning at 8 p.m. Born of four hopeful rednecks and numerous misconceptions, Athens, Georgia’s own Modern Skirts crept onto the scene in 2005 with its piano-laden debut record, Catalogue of Generous Men. The record was very well received, landing at #11 on Paste Magazine's "50 Best Albums of 2005". Pop Matters also praised the debut for its “impeccably structured, gorgeous pop.” More recently, Grammahawk reintroduces Modern Skirts as a band honest to its musical tastes. These songs strut with a creepy swagger made from lost vintage beats, freaky found sounds, and booming drums. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the record, though, is its insight into Gulley’s dark, imaginative, and humorous brain. There is a gleeful and twisted pop evil afoot here, so be sure not to miss out on this special night of music as you ring in the New Year.
Located at 215 North Lumpkin Street Athens, GA 30601, The Georgia Theatre is a prominent music venue in Athens, Georgia, located in an old cinema. Many prominent acts from the early music of Athens, Georgia performed at the Theatre, including a range of folk, popular and country acts. For more information, visit http://www.georgiatheatre.com/ or call (706) 850-7670

Eddie’s Attic: New Year’s Eve Bash featuring Michelle Malone Band and Gareth Asher
December 31, 2012 at 7 p.m.

Back by popular demand, Michelle Malone and her band will ring in the New Year at Eddie's Attic once again with two back-to-back performances at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. with special guest Gareth Asher. Armed with a bottleneck slide, harmonica, and her signature soul-filled vocals, Michelle Malone was born in the Deep South and grew up listening to her mother sing in the church choir every Sunday. When it came time to craft her own sound, she took those religious roots, and blended in enough rock, folk, and country-blues to satisfy. The result is, Debris, a high-spirited stripped down blend of rootsy acoustic slide, gritty electric blues and explosive vocals that harkens back to the lost recordings of Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and The Rolling Stones. Seats are limited, so grab your ticket today by calling 404-377-4976 and for more information, visit http://www.facebook.com/events/500915319927810/
Eddie’s Attic is a popular and intimate live music venue for aspiring and accomplished performing songwriters. Located at 515-B North McDonough St. 30030 in Decatur, Georgia, a small artist-friendly town within the metro Atlanta area – a cultural blend of Berkeley and Mayberry. A “listening room” with a superior sound system/acoustics, where customers are asked to silence cell phones and actually listen to the songs, has made the Attic’s music room a hit with music enthusiasts. Eddie’s Attic draws both fans and artists from all over the world, and continues to be one of the premier music venues in the South. On any given night, music lovers can hear talented performing songwriters and bands playing original music in an intimate setting. The Attic welcomes all varieties of original, live music and embraces the diversity that allows independent music to thrive.
