Cheers Everyone!
Kevin “Swirv” Irvin, who represents the Atlanta-based brewery Atlantucky and co-founder of lifestyle brand Draught Season, has recently been appointed as the president of the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild. Once the news was disclosed, I realized that Irvin is the nation’s first African American to accomplish such an accolade for a state’s brewers guild.
“I’m extremely proud and excited for the opportunity to support our Guild members and ultimately, Georgia beer,” Irvin tells me. “My plan is to work with my amazing board members to continue the great work of past Guild affiliates by increasing membership; creating programs and opportunities for our members to enhance their breweries and taprooms; and providing educational resources and support for new and existing members so they can continue to produce some of the best beer in our nation.”
Irvin continues, “Of course, being the first Black president of a guild is an even more proud moment and I appreciate the opportunity.”
Cheers to you, Swirv!
